I took a trip down memory lane
It seems so long ago
That you and I would walk that path
With feelings that would flow
Flow and caress as the wind
That rustles through the leaves
Now the trees are shedding
Tears like me, they grieve
How many walked this lone road
That stretched out before me
What will I find on my journey
What shadows lay beneath the tree
Will I see old friends or new
Will their faces be peaceful or kind
The branches in their golden hue
Pull at my anxious mind
Send me forth to walk alone
Leaving my memories to erode
Around the bend I cannot see
What waits for me down the road
