The lodge

It is nestled back in the nether regions of a big recreation area. You exit the Interstate and drive for miles. You exit the main road and drive for miles. You exit the park road and drive for a while longer and there it is. On the ride all you see are trees, grass and once in a while a deer or two. And the golf course. Can't forget the golf course.

This is the lodge where I gave my presentation last week. I had about 15 in my audience. There were about 5 who I had never met before. The rest I had worked with at one time or another.

I think sometimes it is easier to give a presentation to strangers.

My daughter's previous boyfriends' parents are splitting up. This could be some of the pain that is causing his younger sister to attempt suicide. He was over last night to talk to my daughter. He is taking the break-up hard. What does she say? "He doesn't remember when he dumped me a year ago and I had nobody!" I sighed. The pain of breaking up I know well. I don't wish it on anybody.

Her cell phone just keeps on buzzing with text messages.

Whew! So many things in such a short blog. But everything imploding in on the short phrase..."younger sister to attempt suicide"...I kept going back and thinking...did I read that right? Left me wondering about the things we do and how they effect others in ways we never expect or even know about.

I am finding out more as each day goes by. The girl drank a bottle of cold medcine which caused her heart to race. That was the major problem. The wrist cutting was a kitchen knife and fortunately was not serious.

It is all serious but at least it was all caught in time. The Mom noticed the agitated state the daughter was in and drove her to the hospital.

When I get the chance I will talk to the Mom. I am sure she is a bit lost right now.
