It is no longer Veteran's day, but I have not forgotten. I try to take some time and read the poem again or the story about the physician who wrote the poem. I did take the time today.
I have read that poem many years ago, I have heard that poem talked about and discussed, but I have not given the poem any serious thought or consideration until now, when I read it here on your blog, the account of its existence adding measurably to the enjoyment of the poem and allowing us, each in his own way, to visualize the events of that fateful day.
I intended to say but neglected to do so, something about your 1800 blogs. The milestone, 1800, is admirable, shows dedication to to your expressive self and adds to the commune of the human spirit to reach out to others. Congratulations.
