Okay, so I just read an autobiography of one of the singers from Three Dog Night. The song Eli's Coming... came to mind when I wrote the title to this post. And so the big eclipse is coming April 8th. My home is just a sliver away from full totality but my niece is having her daughter's first birthday party that day and she decided to host the family eclipse party. My issue will be getting to her house because from past experiences (my sister sat in bumper to bumper traffic on an Interstate in KY in August 2017 and that wasn't even a total eclipse) the roads might be gridlocked. Both of us have purchased several glasses for safe viewing.
It took me a few minutes to remember the link to my blog and then I had to look up my password. Fortunately, I had it written down. I don't write my passwords right out - I use a code. Like the first two numbers of childhood land line plus OS of the mainframe I worked on in 1988 and then a dot and then how old I was when I first moved to VA or the year I lived in TX. Things like that.
Have recently read:
The Sixth Extinction by Elizabeth Kolbert
The Heat will Kill you First by Jeff Goodell
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (I can't believe I'd never read this one)
The Great Fire by Jim Murphy (Chicago fire - where they blamed it on the cow)
An American Plague (Yellow Fever) by Jim Murphy
The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls
Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann (and watched the movie, Netflix I believe?)
...and autobiographies of Madonna, Lillian Roth, Barbra Streisand, Elliot Page, David Cassidy and Chuck Negron (Three Dog Night).
Oh, and I can't forget "Leave the World Behind" by Rumaan Alam. I had watched the Netflix showing with Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke.

You might need to spend the night at your niece's house to be there.
If you are interested, you might look up information about the Peshtigo Fire. It caused even more destruction than the great Chicago fire, but got no press because it happened on the same day and Chicago got all the attention.
RE: Eclipse
You may be right about my niece. We have about 30 family members going so I hope they all don't get the same idea. LOL! My sister lives 30 minutes away and I may stay with her and then go with them. They know the back roads and we can steer clear of the Interstate.
RE: Fire
I recall reading that the firemen were exhausted from fighting a previous fire and did not have time to recuperate. There were a lot of mistakes made (not the fault of the firemen).
Oops. I looked up the fire you mentioned. I thought you meant in the same vicinity as the Chicago fire. I see it is a wildfire in Wisconsin. I'll see if I can get a copy of the book and read it. There looks to be several, I'm sure I'll find one.
